Below we have a Pranayama excercise we welcome you to try, if you choose to.
Nadi Shodana is one breathing Technique you can do anytime, or before Meditation. Nadi Shodana is said to relax the mind and balance both hemispheres of the brain.
You may begin by chanting OM.
1. Focus your attention on your breath, connect to the breath, breath in slowly, now exhale. Remain Aware.
2. Place your right hand forefinger and middle finger on the space between the eyebrows, now gently block your right nostril with your thumb, your ring finger will be used for your left nostril later.
2. Take a slow deep breath in expanding your abdomen slowly, hold for 3 seconds, now slowly exhale, relax the abdomen keep your attention on your breath for now and hold for 3 seconds.
4. Block your left nostril with your ring finger, and unblock your right nostril. Breath in. slowly, expanding abdomen, and hold for 3 seconds, now exhale slowly and hold for 3 seconds.
Repeat at a slow comfortable pace, with the intention to become present.
5. Now place your hands down onto your lap, in a relaxed position, and bring your attention to your natural breath. Allow any thoughts or emotions to pass by, without becoming attached, simply just observe.
Observe your current state of awareness.
If you practice Yoga mindfully, on a regular basis may have noticed that in your practice, you aren't really 'doing' Yoga. After some time you may feel Yoga becomes more about 'being'.
For example even just stretching while at your desk, while intentionally bringing your attention or awareness to your breath, and the movement of your arms and back, is moving mindfully. This practice can help to reduce commen injuries that may occur from being seated for long periods of time. This simple practice may also assist in improving focus, concentration, and reduce stress.
Yoga can be a journey towards inner Peace
Yoga is also seen as a journey within. When practiced mindfully, Yoga offers one way you may find balance and inner peace in life if you choose.
Namaste
